The Hundred Blaze 2022

The Hundred Blaze was organized by Capital Kids Cricket in April 2022, supported by Essex in the community and Grassroots trust.

Dates: Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th April. Time: 10am – 6pm. Venue: Seven Kings Park, Redbridge

Competition aims:

–        To integrate communities from different backgrounds

–        To raise awareness about the ‘Bowl Out Racism’ Campaign

–        To promote integration and good relationships between the local leagues

–        To create opportunities for young players to showcase their skills and build confidence

Post Comp development:

–        Players will be signposted to the ECB City Cup competition for Essex, Surrey, Middlesex

–        Potential overseas tours – selected players from the competition

Event management:

–        Competition to be run by Capital Kids Cricket, supported by Grassroots Trust and Essex Cricket in the Community

–        Main theme: Bowl Out Racism (t-shirts and other branding)

–        CKC media and other potential TV and media

Player eligibility:

–        The age range for players are 16-24

–        All players must be eligible as local resident players i.e. Non-Overseas

–        Refugees will be eligible

–        2 guest players from other countries can play in a team – with the approval of the management

Format – The games will be played the same format and will follow the same rules as the ECB The Hundred competition. (Details of the rules to follow). To be played with Pink Ball. Playing t-shirts to be provided by Capital Kids Cricket. Players to wear white bottoms.

Final Report

DAY 1 – TUESDAY 12TH APRIL

Group A:

1.      India (National Cricket League)

2.      BTCL (British Tamils Cricket League)

3.      West Indies (ACE Programme)

Group B:

1.      Bangladesh (London Cricket League)

2.      Pakistan (Elliot Davies Cricket League)

3.      Afghanistan (Capital Kids Cricket Refugee Project)

After an action-packed day of cricket on both pitches at Seven Kings Park with a total of 6 matches on the first day. India finished winners in Group A and Bangladesh finishing winners in Group B. West Indies and Pakistan both managed to grab a win to secure a place in the semi finals on day 2.

DAY 2 – WEDNESDAY 13TH APRIL

Semi Final 1 was between India and Pakistan. India, after scoring a competitive total of 120 runs on a slow and turning wicket from their 100 balls defended it comfortably by restricting Pakistan to 84 runs. Semi Final 2 between Bangladesh and West Indies was a low scoring thriller. Bangladesh scored 87 from their 100 balls, which seemed to be a comfortable score to chase for West Indies. However, with early wickets and very tight bowling from the Bangladesh bowlers they managed to surprise West Indies and bowl them out for 43.

Final – Bangladesh vs India. Bangladesh restricted India to 84 in the Final but their batters struggled to stay in and build a match winning innings. All bowlers from India contributed to restricting Bangladesh total to 64. Congratulations to Team India for winning the Hundred Blaze 2022.
